Pastor Stephen and Mary Jane Olsen retire after 45 years of ministry at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Smithville. A celebration was held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 exactly 45 years to the day Pastor Olsen preached his first sermon at the little white church in the middle of nowhere with about 20 members.
Included in the celebration services were greetings and reminiscences in person and via video of former staff members and missionaries, presentation of plaques and gifts, and special choir and orchestra selections. Lunch was served for all in attendance and an afternoon service followed with an open mic for memories and appreciation.
