EXALTING OUR GREAT GOD TOGETHER was the theme of a combined Sunday Evening service on August 27, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Ohio. The OARBC congregations in Scioto County included Temple Baptist, Portsmouth; Wheelersburg Baptist, Wheelersburg; Grace Baptist, Minford; and Grace Community at Bigelow. There were some first-time guests as well.
The service began with Tasha Glenn singing a new song by Emily Ann Roberts called “The Building.”
Four attributes of our Heavenly Father were then featured in the messages. Host Pastor, John Gowdy, on His Aseity, from Hebrews 13:8; Rob McKinney (Grace, Minford) on His Faithfulness, from II Timothy 2:11-13; Brad Brandt (Wheelersburg) on His Wisdom, from Romans 11:33-36; and Gary Chaffins (Grace at Bigelow, Portsmouth) on His Grace, from Ephesians 1:7. After each devotional, an appropriate answering Hymn was sung.
Everybody’s Birthday was the theme for the dessert fellowship in the Gym. The 150 attending each found tables decorated for their respective birth month. It was a fun mixer creating opportunity to meet new friends and fellowship. Homemade cakes of all kinds, ice cream, coffee, and drinks were enjoyed by all.
